This recipe makes two different types of french toast - one salty and the other sweet. The combination of sweet and salty is delicious! A great way to kick off a Sunday morning!

Ingredients

  • 8 Eggs
  • 8 slices of thick multigrain bread
  • 50g Pecans
  • 2 Bananas
  • 100g Black Forest Ham
  • 200g Cheddar Cheese
  • Milk
  • 3 tbsp Vanilla
  • 1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • Maple Syrup
  • 3 tbsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • Vegetable oil

Instructions

To prepare Sweet French Toast:

In a bowl, mix together 4 eggs, 1/4 cup of milk and vanilla. Place bread (4 slices) in mixture and let sit until bread is saturated. Flip bread to ensure both sides are fully covered. Push 5-10 pecans into each piece of saturated bread and sprinkle generously with cinnamon. Heat frying pan with oil over medium-high heat. Carefully place saturated bread slices into pan. Cook for a couple of minutes on each side until toast is golden and firm. Garnish with banana slices, pecans and drizzle with sweetened condensed milk.

In a bowl, mix together 4 eggs, 1/4 cup of milk and salt. Place bread (4 slices) in mixture and let sit until bread is saturated. Flip bread to ensure both sides are fully covered.Heat frying pan with oil over medium-high heat. Carefully place saturated bread slices into pan. Cook for a couple of minutes on each side until toast is golden and firm. Top with 2-3 slices of black forest ham and grated cheddar cheese. Finish off in oven on broil until cheese is bubbling and golden. Top with maple syrup and dig in!
