Description

An oriental twist on a Philly cheese sandwich, prepare for this recipe to rock your socks off! Creates 4

Ingredients

  • 3 large pineapple rings, roughly chopped
  • 2 crushed garlic cloves
  • 100g parmesan cheese
  • 1 whole onion, chopped and caramelised
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 heaped tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 50ml soy sauce
  • 3 teaspoons soft brown sugar
  • 200g cut of steak
  • 200ml egg wash
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 4 raw egg roll pastries
  • 4 soft sandwich buns
  • 300g mozzarella
  • 50g squeezy mustard
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons pepper

Instructions

In a large bowl, stir together the pineapple rings, the garlic, 1 tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon pepper, the parmesan, the onions, the sesame oil, the sesame seeds and blend together.
In a pan over medium heat, simmer the soy sauce and the brown sugar. Incorporate the parmesan mixture into the soy mixture on the pan and keep on the heat. Keep mixing and stirring.
Now take your raw steak and marinate it with the mixture, brush over it, blend it in and add another tablespoon of salt and pepper. Marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. Once marinated, cut the steak into 4 equal parts.
Now to make the egg roll. Take each egg roll pastry, brush egg wash over the surface, place a slice of American cheese and a slice of steak.
Roll up the egg roll until closed up, keep together with toothpicks or cocktail sticks and fry, either in a wok or a deep fat fryer. Toast the sandwich buns in the grill and stuff your Philly cheese egg roll into the sandwich. To top it off, sprinkle over mozzarella and a splash of mustard and enjoy.
