For both layers separately, cream butter and sugar together, add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Mix all dry ingredients together and add to wet ingredients. Mix together well and form into ball.
Wrap each ball in parchment paper and refrigderate until firm, about 2 hours.
Seperately roll each ball into 1/4 " thick rectangles on parcment paper. Stack one rectangle onto the other and carefully roll both into a log using parchment paper for help. Refridgerate for 1 hr. longer.
Cut into 1/2 " slices and pace on baking sheet 2" apart.
Bake in preheated oven for 8 min. Let sit on baking sheet for 1 min. and remove to wire racks to cool. Decorate if desired.
