The cookie recipe was my Italian Grandma Rose's recipe. I changed it up this season and added crushed candy canes and a peppermint cream cheese frosting. Tastes great and a fun cookie to make with kids. Kids have fun crushing the candy canes and frosting the cookie.

  • 1 ¼ cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp. of vanilla
  • 1 tsp. of peppermint extract
  • 2 ½ cups of flour
  • 1 tsp. of baking soda
  • ½ tsp. of cream of tartar
  • ¼ tsp. of salt
  • 1 cup of crushed candy canes
  • Ingredients for Frosting:
  • 4 oz. Butter
  • 4 oz. Cream cheese
  • 1 tsp. of peppermint extract
  • 2 cups of powder sugar
  • 2 drops of red food coloring

Instructions

Ingredients:
