Buck's Buttermilk Brownies

Description

This recipe is one that I have used to make all kinds of goodies. You can substitute different ingredients and make your own signature goodies.

Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. butter
  • 3 tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 c. water (may substitute SOME of the water for chocolate syrup)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • FROSTING FOR BUTTERMILK BROWNIES:
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 3 tbsp. milk
  • 1 tbsp. cocoa
  • t tsp vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

BROWNIES

Sift together flour, sugar and cocoa.
Melt butter, cocoa and water together and bring to rapid boil.
Pour boiling liquid into dry ingredients and mix well. (don't over mix)
Then add eggs, buttermilk, soda, salt and vanilla
Mix and pour into greased 11 x 15 inch jelly roll pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes.

FROSTING

Mix butter, milk and cocoa; bring to a boil. Remove from heat, add: 1 tsp. vanilla.
Beat until smooth. May add some chopped nuts, if desired. Spread on
brownies while still very warm. These brownies freeze well too.
